This page is especially dedicated to those who love music and who are addicts of the sound. Maybe monthly, maybe weekly, maybe daily I’ll update this page of a song I think is absolutely awesome and that more people should listen to or download.
So tell us, Rachel, what song is it?…

Dead Poetic, Vices
The song I chose this time around was “Narcotic” by Dead Poetic. I’m not a huge Dead Poetic fan, but I heard it as apart of the Tooth & Nail Sampler One Dark Summer (it can also be downloaded there). It’s apart of their new album coming out this October 31st (boo), so you wouln’t be able to find too much concerning this song aside from their site on Purevolume.
The song has a catchy beat which will already sink many a teeth into it, and when I finally found the lyrics to the song (courtesy of Google), it became an instant favourite to me. You can’t understand some of what they’re saying unless you listen closely, so the lyrics are a majour help. You can view them at this site.
The basic meaning of the song is the last sentence of the chorus, You sold your soul, now they want more. Through the verses, it talks of how you could sell yourself to things that are here for just a time–attention, affection, popularity. They compare the want and what a person would do to a narcotic, a highly addictive drug that reduces pain.
You slowly let yourself become void, losing yourself to everything around you and to everyone around you; yet you keep screaming for it and keep doing it because it’s all you know.
With such despairty, there is hope. While the lyrics may seem dark and depressing, there is a solution to end the pain: Jesus Christ. He does complete 180’s in people, no matter their state, situation or what the’ve done. If you have any questions about it, feel free to email me and talk to me.
You sold your soul for an ounce of attention
Gaining the world and demanding affection
Will you ever be pleased with your own skin?
Will you ever refuse what they’re asking? You can’t hide your insecurities with a pretty face
Breed it, and bear it, and make it your narcotic
Begging face down on the floor
Breed it, and bear it, and make it your narcotic
You sold your soul, now they want moreVanity’s gun left you dead in Hollywood
Empty, addicted, and screaming for comfort
From a world devoid of compassion
Exchanging hopes for rejectionYou can’t hide your insecurities with a pretty face.
Breed it, and bear it, and make it your narcotic
Begging face down on the floor
Breed it, and bear it, and make it your narcotic
You sold your soul, now they want more
This song can be downloaded as apart of the Tooth & Nail Sampler, One Dark Summer and can be heard at Purevolume.com.
